Pearl Jam Backspacer Review

Unless you've followed the band since its hey day in the 1990s, there's a good chance that it's been a while since you've heard any new music from Pearl Jam. Unlike many other 90s bands, this band still remains in full force and has been producing albums pretty regularly ever since they broke through with their classic album "Ten" in the early 90s.
With that said, bands always struggle to find their original form as they age. Times change, musical styles change, and the public will typically yearn for a new sound, following the trends as they emerge. Pearl Jam has somewhat struggled in that sense, as they haven't found much commercial success since the 1990s.
Whether commercial success matters to them or not is something I don't really know, but I can say with confidence that Backspacer is the best album this band has produced in quite some time.
While these songs don't sound like anything revolutionary of any kind, they blend a vintage Pearl Jam sound with some good old fashioned rock 'n roll elements, and it genuinely sounds like the band is having more fun than they've ever had.
This is an album with 11 songs and it moves quickly. Many of the songs are below 3 minutes in length, and only two of them are more than 4 minutes long. This is a change from the many longer Pearl Jam songs that the band produced in the 1990s.
Regardless of length, this album fully delivers. Critics seem to agree with this statement across the board.
